Spain: Aldi opens first store that Aldi will open in Spain in 2023

Aldi Spain (German family owned) kicks off its expansion plan for this year with the opening of a new supermarket in the city of Madrid, specifically in the residential area of Valdebebas, on February 1, as reported by the German chain in a statement.


The new store will be located at Avenida de Juan Antonio Samaranch, 51 and will have more than 1,100 m2 of commercial space and a staff of 20 collaborators. The establishment will have an assortment of nearly 2,000 products, of which 86% are own brand and 80% of national origin.


The opening of Valdebebas is the first in Aldi's expansion plans for 2023, which will be marked, especially, by the company's arrival in the autonomous city of Melilla and the opening of new stores in Galicia, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. and Asturias.


Specifically, the supermarket chain plans to continue growing this year with the opening of nearly 50 new stores throughout the country.


In this sense, this February the company will celebrate its first four openings of the year: the establishment that will open its doors in Valdebebas, will be followed by another in Masnou (Barcelona), on February 8, and two more on the 22nd at the Asturian municipality of Siero and in Arrecife, capital of Lanzarote, which will mean the opening of the first Aldi store on the Canary Island.


Madrid, strategic area

For its part, Madrid this year remains one of the strategic areas for the company. In fact, during the past year, ALDI increased its commercial area in the region by more than 11%. In this sense, the Community of Madrid was one of the territories that concentrated the most openings in 2022, with a total of six.


The latest inaugurations took place in November, specifically in the Carabanchel and Salamanca districts of Madrid and in the municipality of Alcorcón. With the opening of Valdebebas, Aldi will reach a total of 57 supermarkets and more than 63,000 m2 of sales area in the Community of Madrid.
