Romania: PENNY opens two stores, and its network reaches 288 units

Discount Retail Chain PENNY (owned by the German REWE Group) continues its expansion plan in Romania by opening two new stores: one in Săbăoani, Neamț County and one in Buzău, Buzău County. Thus, re tert network PENNY reach a total of 288 shops. The first, the store in Săbăoani, Neamț County on Str. Progresului, no. 5, has a sales area of ​​860 m 2, four cash registers and 15 employees. At the same time, the store has 80 parking spaces.

The second, the store in Buzău, Buzău county on Str. Stadionului, no. 120, has a sales area of ​​806.7 m2, four cash registers and 14 employees. Moreover, the store has 34 parking spaces.

The design of the new stores in Săbăoani and Buzău is modern and welcoming, and the shopping session for customers is improved due to the large area for fresh products, own brands for Romanians, but also due to more visible signage of promotions and main food categories. In addition, the new PENNY offers simple solutions, adapted to the alert lifestyle, such as ready-to-eat products, but also semi-prepared, refrigerated or frozen ones.

PENNY Punct represents the strategic evolution of Penny Market in Romania and is very clearly structured in seven key pillars: improved experience in stores, expansion, Romanian products, people, digitalization, sustainability and integrated communication.

The expansion pillar refers to the expansion of stores and the development of logistics capabilities. By 2029, PENNY aims to reach the number of 600 stores and in terms of logistics, this year the retailer will inaugurate the fourth warehouse in Filiași, Dolj County.

The entire network is served by three logistics centers located in Ștefăneștii de Jos, Turda and Bacău. Currently, the PENNY network in Romania consists of 288 stores nationwide and a dedicated team of over 5,300 employees.
