Poland: Lidl Polska is growing faster than the competition

Discount Retail Chain Lidl Polska boasts sales results for the fourth quarter of 2024. The retailer argues that the strategy of low, equal prices, as well as building trust among customers over the years, brings results, turnover develops faster than the revenues of the largest competition. The numbers confirm that the company's position is stable.


Michał Nowaczyk, CFO of Lidl Polska, presented the financial data from the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2024 show that the direction taken by the company is the right one, and customers are eager to choose Lidl stores for shopping for their families. Sales revenues generated in the fourth quarter (i.e. in October, November and December 2024) confirm that the network is developing and growing in strength.

Our financial results confirm that our strategy of offering low, equal prices and building customer trust has proven to be effective. We plan to continue investing in employees, stores and local communities. I am convinced that our activities will bring further successes to the Lidl Polska chain," comments Michał Nowaczyk, CFO of Lidl Polska.


A whole year of the fastest turnover growth

In the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2024, Lidl Polska's turnover grew much faster than that of its largest competitor, the Biedronka chain. In the fourth quarter of 2024, Lidl Polska achieved an over 7 percent increase in the turnover of comparable LfL.

Lidl has been present in Poland for 22 years. According to the company, it is the 9th largest company in Poland in terms of revenue. It has over 900 stores located throughout the country.


"The main goal of the chain is to satisfy customers, which is why the stores offer a wide range of high-quality products, offered at low, Lidl prices, produced in a sustainable way. The chain places particular emphasis on a fair and transparent pricing policy," the company says.


Biedronka's negative LfL in 2024

Let us remind you that in the fourth quarter of 2024, the revenues of the Biedronka chain reached EUR 6.11 billion, which is an increase of 7.4% year-on-year. The chain's full-year revenues amounted to €23.57 billion, up 9.6 percent. However, comparable sales fell slightly in this period, by 0.3 percent.
