Poland: Action has opened its 13th distribution centre in Zakroczym

Discount Retail Chain Action Poland (owned by 3i group) the fastest growing chain of non-food discount stores in Europe, today officially opened its third distribution center in Poland, located in Zakroczym.


It is Action's 13th distribution centre in Europe. The popular discount chain opened its first store in Poland in 2017 in Leszno and continues to invest in the future development of its business in this market.


Over the past five years, Action has increased the number of stores opened in Poland every year, which currently amounts to nearly 300 outlets. As a result, the company employs more than 3,600 people and wants to hire another 1,000 people this year.


"Our strong growth since entering the Polish shows that Poles love shopping at Action and accept our unique formula: a surprising assortment of good quality and sustainable products at the lowest possible price," explains Sławomir Nitek, CEO of Action in Poland. "I am very proud of what we have achieved with the Polish team over the last five years, whether employees work in stores, distribution centres or at our headquarters. We have ambitions to continue to strengthen our Polish team and the entire organization and build a stable and well-functioning supply chain", he adds.


DC Zakroczym will serve up to 160 Action stores in Poland

The building in Zakroczym has an area of 46,000 sqm, of which over 44,000 sqm. This is a warehouse area able to accommodate 47,000 pallets. Area 2 750 sqm. They occupy office and social rooms. DC Zakroczym will serve up to 160 stores in Poland. In the long term, DC will create 300 jobs in the region.

Action and the international warehouse development and investment company Panattoni developed a DC with particular emphasis on environmental protection: We focused on combining functionality and sustainable development and took into account as many environmentally friendly elements as possible, from the materials used to the construction details and installed equipment, explains Sławomir Nitek.


Water, energy and waste management in DC is particularly sustainable. The building benefits from energy efficiency solutions such as solar panels for water heating, photovoltaic panels for electricity generation, smart energy and water meters, energy-efficient LED lighting inside and outside the building, and electric car charging stations. All DC operations will be managed by Action.
