Schwarz Services will produce shopping baskets for Lidl and Kaufland stores will largely consist of recycled plastic (recyclate), which has been processed by the recycling division of the Schwarz Group, PreZero International.
The Schwarz Procurement department acted as an interface between the parties and coordinated the changeover on the supplier and system side.
Dominik Vogel, Buyer at Schwarz Procurement, explains: "Together with GreenCycle, our interface to PreZero International, the Lidl in Germany and Kaufland Deutschland retail divisions and our suppliers, we were able to switch to the new shopping baskets after positive test runs. We are particularly pleased that these are largely made of recyclate. In this case, recyclable materials from used packaging are reused."
The consideration of ecological aspects in procurement, as well as the planning and implementation of sustainable measures, is part of our jointly developed plastics strategy of the companies of the Schwarz Group "REset Plastic".
The companies of the Schwarz Group save more than 390 tons of virgin plastic and 698 tons of CO₂ equivalents with the new shopping baskets. This corresponds to the greenhouse gas emissions of around 1,400 flights between Frankfurt and Mallorca (return flights).
