Belgium: Aldi tests loyalty card

Discount Retail Chain Aldi Belgium is testing the introduction of a loyalty card. This is the first time that the discounter has launched a loyalty programme. The first of the test is for Belgium.

Aldi customers in 70 stores in West Flanders and the north of Hainaut will be able to test the digital loyalty card for the first time this week. This is an update to Aldi's existing app, which allows customers to save points when making a purchase. Those points can then be redeemed for free products or a discount coupon.

Almost all supermarkets have this form of loyalty program, intended to bind customers. For Aldi Nord, which includes the Belgian stores - this is a first. Belgium is the test country. The results will be evaluated, according to the retailer.
